Importance of Complete PCI-DSS Compliance for Retailers Traditionally, DVR manufacturers have ignored the PCI-DSS issue because they believe that it does not apply to them. Their argument is that because they don’t capture cardholder data, they aren’t required to be PCI-DSS compliant. In fact, if the DVR is not secure, a criminal could potentially gain unauthorized access and then use it as a platform to steal card holder information.
